New Beginnings Project

St. James' recently started an outreach ministry based on Trinity Cathedral's Friends of Tamar ministry. Our New Beginnings Project provides beautiful hand-sewn bags with three days of supplies to women fleeing domestic violence and sexual assault. The bags include toiletries, clothing, writing supplies, and a hand-written note of hope. You can view a complete list of needed items at this link. Items can be dropped off at the church office or in tubs at the main church entrances.

Special Events

Throughout the year, St. James' and various parish groups hold special events and fundraisers, like our annual Holiday Bazaar on the first Wednesday of December and our Parish Garage Sale in August. Make sure to check our events page and Facebook page to see upcoming events!

Hosting Events & Groups

St. James' is a beautiful place to have your book club, service club meeting, baby shower, or other event. We are glad to provide our facilities for these important occasions! Some fees apply. The first step to making a reservation is contacting the parish office.

Fellowship

As a small church, we excel at providing personal attention and care to our members. It's a joy to celebrate birthdays, baptisms, graduations, and other life events together, and we never pass up an opportunity to share a good meal! We see our life together as a ministry of love that is rooted in the love of Jesus, and we're always thrilled to get to extend that love to new members and guests.

 ST. JAMES LITTLE FREE PANTRY

St. James has a Little Free Pantry located on the lawn on the north side of the Chapel.  It is available for anyone in the community who may need assistance with food insecurity.  At this time the Pantry is stocked with food and personal hygiene items.  We would appreciate donated items as time goes on, but we would ask that you bring these items into the church and not directly place them into the Pantry. We are trying to track what items are frequently taken and keep a balance of different types of food in the Pantry.

Donation suggestions: Hygiene items such as soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo. Food items such as cereal, canned vegetables, canned fruits, individual servings of fruit or applesauce, peanut butter, jelly, pasta, spaghetti sauce, mac and cheese, canned tuna and other canned fish or meat, soup, granola bars, taco shells, individual meals.  These are just suggestions, and we welcome any donations.

Please: No glass containers.   No sharp objects like razors.

If you have any questions, please contact Erin Rinaker (402) 571-3264.

 ST. JAMES COMMUNITY GARDEN

St. James Community Garden is located behind the church in the former preschool playground. This area was repurposed with raised garden beds in order to grow fresh produce to place in our St. James Little Free Pantry located adjacent to the Chapel along 5th street.

The garden is open to all of the community for anyone who would like to help plant, weed and harvest the produce. Whoever needs fresh tomatoes, green beans, carrots, strawberries or any of the other garden items growing there are welcome to enjoy.

This space also has a picnic table and benches if you just want to enjoy the beauty and peace that it provides.

If you have questions, please call the church at 402-721-3327 and leave a message for Jan Jordan.
